Carnevale dell’adriatico (Fano Mardi Gras): The longest running mardi gras in Italy and the only one to include sweet-throwing during an event that features fancy dress, bands and themed float parades. Programme: Sunday 31 January, Sunday 7 and 14 February 2010
Antique fair: The historical centre comes to life the second week-end of every month with an antique and modern collectibles fair featuring around 200 display stands.
Fano Yacht Festival: The Fano Yacht Festival is the first boat show on the Adriatic, and operators in the nautical trade recognise it as an event not to be missed. It is held at the exclusive tourist port, and gives the general public a preview of the latest trends in the sector. Every year, both trade operators and visitors can enjoy the most innovative proposals in the nautical market, and meet leaders in the national and international ship-building industry, both for sailboats and motor boats. La Fano dei Cesari (Fano of the emperors): Fano of the emperors takes the spectators back to ancient Roman times, and the entire city gets in on the act. The highlight of this re-enactment has always been the great parade where about five thousand participants dress up in Roman robes, representing all six districts of the city. (July-August)
Fano jazz by the sea: with almost one hundred internationally renowned musicians from all over the world, this summer music festival has become one of the most famous in the country. (July)
International brodetto and fish soup festival: The federation of Italian trade, tourism and services of Pesaro and Urbino and the restaurant federation of Pesaro and Urbino organise this festival every year which turns Fano into the undisputed capital of brodetto [fish soup] for the month of September. Chefs come from all over Italy to challenge each other under the watchful gaze of food critics from the leading guides in the sector. This festival has managed to earn the respect of both the public and the trade operators with a unique formula that aligns the enthusiasm of the competition to the taste of good cooking (September)
Teatro della fortuna (Theatre of fortune): There are a number of shows put on every year in the beautiful surroundings of Fano's main theatre.
Super Quad show: The only national show dedicated to quad bikes every year. Visitors can experience these thrilling quad competitions first hand. This sport is gaining increasing popularity thanks to the versatility of these bikes that can navigate over courses that vary widely from earth to sand to asphalt. (April)
